ReplyDeleteDon't know where you got that 'activate' from but ビクともせん is basically the short form of びくともしない which basically means undaunted or unyielding or unflinching. I just used flinch since it seems better. But then again I just copy pasted the words from the translated chapter before so.....

DeleteAnd do you see the problem with those words? TL a novels we must/should respect the original expression within reason, but 'shoping an image why would you?

Does it really matter which one is the right one? The TL is fine, as long as one understands its no big deal, anyway I want moar! of this fanart xD
DeleteAnd in fact, since the complete list of translation possibilities according to the dictionary is "unperturbed, undaunted, retaining composure, unyielding, not giving an inch", that does mean that SDT is always active (a passive skill) and Lucy's playing around won't make a dent in it, so it doesn't hurt. SDT is mostly a defensive and support skill, not a counterattack one (I believe that was the problem, wasn't it? Lacclongquan believing president's words meant that SDT wouldn't react to it by harming Lucy when what the original said was that Lucy's abuse wasn't powerful enough to pass through his defenses and register as pain).

ReplyDeleteIt was white for a short time, but it never permanently turned white like Sylphy's. His hair returned to the original color after some time.
